Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problem with Favourites This is an addition to my previous (long) review: Be careful when experimenting with a lot of Favourtites - YOU CAN NOT EVER DELETE A FAVOURITE (even by turning the power off etc.). Who the heck designed this oven??? You can edit an existing Favourite and so end up with your most used Favourites at the top of a (long) list of Favourites (a pain). Manual did not cover this annoying issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied and happy I bought this a month ago and am very happy with my choice. I researched a lot before choosing this oven and it meets my requirements very well. It took me a little time to get used to the full range of the controls and I am still trying out the different functions. Howver of roasting, bajing and in particular bred making it has been all that I hoped for. The first time it gave me a reminder to clean the process seemed alittle involved but now I am well prectised it is qiock and easy and my oven is always gleaming. I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I am very impressed at how quickly the oven reaches the desired temperature. The telescopic runners are very smooth. The unit is very quiet when operating even with the fan going. I love it. The best oven I have ever owned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very expensive for what it is That oven as been sold to me with no display. When you read the user manual it s looks quite easy to use. Came back home the way the control panel is design is not intuitive at all. Not that easy to find the desire program. The oven is quite nosy. I ve made my first porc roast with the “easy program” it s come up over cooked and the crackle was not cracklings at all. The steam fonction is not well conceived. Most of similar oven even cheaper one gots the on demande steam who s very handy when it comes to bakes French baguettes for example. The steam doesn t work that well either. Overall I ll not recommand that product because it s simply doesn t worth the money spend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems with our new AEG oven (BSK774320M) Problems with our new AEG oven (model BSK774320M 60cm SteamCrisp Oven): It should be noted: We have a LOT of criticisms about the poor design of many of the oven’s features BUT from our comparisons with other ovens from other companies it appears that most have the same design problems. So the AEG is probably no worse than other brands. We are adapting to the new oven but having to find ways around how the manual says to use it (poor manual?) in order to get food cooked properly. Should NOT have to do this. Note: We are both very experienced cooks and cook a very wide range of foods. ***Our (accurate) oven temp. gauge indicates our AEG oven’s Temp. indicator is OFF (reads high by up to 15C sometimes even after an hour). ***GRILL function is bizarre and very slow and hard to use: 1. If any reasonable Temp is set then Oven goes into a mandatory Heat-Up mode. Why? Set Temp is reached in about 1-2 mins, BUT the Heat-Up still continues until the Grill is red hot and then it cools back down to the preset Temp. Overall takes 6 mins before you can use the Griller. What on earth is it doing for the extra 4 mins? (heating the entire oven? Playing cards? A Grill function should NOT do this). 2. Grill function is a bizarre design. Oven cooking works by heating the air which heats the food. Grilling should work by heat (infrared radiation) from the hot Grill element directly heating the food below it. AEG oven seems to waste many minutes heating the air in the oven first on Grill function (wrong - too slow and this is not “Grill" cooking). 3. Note: all of the above was confirmed by staff at Spartan Electrical - they “tested” 3 of their showroom AEG ovens and found the Grill function to be strange in all three. ***Minute Minder (MM) is VERY poorly designed: Maximum timer alert volume (at maximum setting) is very very low. Why??? Timer alert only runs for 2 minutes. Should beep (forever) until turned off. MM does not count up when it reaches zero. In certain modes Minute Minder is stopped when you touch ANY button on the oven (even to just check Temperature). Aaaarggh! Is this a bug? Only happens sometimes. The Minute Minder (MM) time and the Operating time keep swapping between the bottom and middle display lines. Why??? Confusing! Crazy design!!! ***Turbo Grill function is unpredictable and very variable: E.g. Followed manual for roasting chicken pieces using Turbo Grill. Should have taken about 1 hour at most, took 2 hours, didn’t brown the meat but cooked it with a slightly “boiled” texture (not so nice). Note: We asked the Demonstrator at our free AEG Cooking Class Demo and they said: “Oh, you probably need to let the oven heat up for at least 30 minutes after the Fast Heat up period, i.e. at least 36 minutes, before putting your food in. I often need a heat up of 60 minutes before using the oven”. This means that AEG brochures, web site and Sales people are being somewhat dishonest as they say that modern electric ovens have a fast heat up of about 5 minutes, are better than older electric ovens and on par with gas ovens. This is not true. ***Installer had two major problems with the oven: 1 Installation manual (diagram and dimensions) suggests a “proud” install is best. In fact oven can ONLY be installed Flush with cabinet. 2 The top right corner of the oven door did not line up with the top oven (display) panel of the oven and would catch (hit!) the edge of the wooden cabinet the oven was installed in. ***Manual is terrible. Omits certain features and minor functions, errors in Installation section, etc.: 1. No explanation of why you can’t install Telescopic runners on the top rail. (AEG staff DID help explain this). 2. No mention of Flush Only install. In fact Installation manual indicated a “Proud” install was best. 4. Manual section on “Fast Heat-Up” setting does not say if this includes the Grill function. 5. No mention of how the Minute Minder works.(except how to set a time). E.g. no mention that holding the “up” and “down” arrows at the same time for 3 secs will reset the timer to zero (a convenient feature!). 6. A lot of information is missing when using the table on cooking different foods. 7. And all the other problems mentioned above and below. ***The maximum temperature the external bottom (i.e. underside) of the oven can reach is way above what AEG staff state. ***AEG do not make a smokeless grill tray: AEG in Australia is owned by Electrolux and they do have a Smokeless Grill Tray which actually fits the AEG (only by good luck). ***Pyrolytic Cleaning mode has minor problems. If run for 90mins. two areas in the oven do not get hot enough (front left spot on the base, front right spot on the base) and any grease here is burnt onto the base (but not turned to powder) and so is even harder to remove after Pyrolytic Cleaning. These two spots NEED to be cleaned by hand first. ***The Operating time resets on too many changes (e.g. if a new cooking function is chosen, etc. etc. ). So the total Operating / cooking time is lost (and coupled with a Minute Minder that is too quiet to hear and only runs for a very short time ==> very confusing). ***Too early to really tell but the "Steam Crisp” feature seems fairly useless. (NOTE: actual Steam Cooking in the very expensive ovens is probably useful but not “Steam Assist”). Good things: • Overall the oven is well built and can be quite usable (manually). It has enough “manual” control over all the heating elements that one can learn to use it effectively manually (and mostly just ignore the fiddly “automatic” features and ignore the useless manual). • Minute Minder (MM) is fairly easy to SET. It’s just a pain to USE overall (and it’s unbelievably quiet and I have good hearing!). • Great Operational display (shows programmed start time, duration of current operation, minute minder time remaining, current Function, Heat up progress, Set temperature, Temp. probe temperature all at once in a very readable display). • The Control (touch buttons) work quite well (note there exist features NOT mentioned in the Manual). • Note: the Temperature Probe seems very accurate for roasts etc. • The Favourites menu is excellent. Easy to set and easy to use. • The Demonstrator at our free AEG Cooking Class Demo was excellent. She was an experienced Chef, knew how to use the ovens and was very open, honest and helpful with usage problems. 10/10! • Overall good value for money - many features and accessories such as 3 pairs of telescopic runners included. • Purchased from Spartan Electrical (at Torrensville store in Adelaide) - very very helpful staff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Steam oven Only just had it installed so still quite new at using it. Finding that the oven is a joy to use and the instruction booklet is quite easy to follow thanks to pictures plus writing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multiple features and user friendly Bought a few weeks ago but time enough to test out the stram assist and the built in thermometer to easily produce a spot on medium rare roast beef that was juicy and tender. Have also cooked fish using steam assist and chicken leg steaks on true fan cooking. Both gave great results. Looking forward to our free upcoming cookng class.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but cleaning not so straightforward Pleased with the cooking, but the cleaning isn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. You have to remove the racks for manual cleaning and manually clean the worst from the oven before setting for pyrolytic cleaning. If you don't then you get burnt spots on the oven base that are even harder to clean off. It also asks to be cleaned after almost every use.
