  • What is induction and how does it work?
With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.
  • What can I do to ensure the best results when cooking with my induction cooktop?

There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:

    • Use heavier, high-quality cookware that is suitable for induction cooktops. High-quality cookware that is heavier and has a flat bottom will help your food cook more evenly.
    • Adjust the recipe's suggested temperature or cooking time. Your induction cooktop provides exceptional temperature control that allows you to adjust heat with greater accuracy than gas or electric cooktops, especially at lower settings. Perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces.
  • How can I prevent scratches on my electric or induction cooktop?

Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply the recommended cooktop cleanser to the surface and buff using a nonabrasive cloth or pad. The special cooktop cleansing cream leaves a protective finish that helps prevent scratches and abrasions. To further prevent scratches on your cooktop surface:

    • Be sure that the cooktop and any pots, pans, or utensils you use are clean.
    • If coarse particles (such as salt) come between your cooktop and utensils, scratches can result.
    • Use pots and pans that have a smooth, flat bottom.
    • Use cleaning materials that are recommended for ceramic/glass cooktops.
    • Any small scratches that occur will not affect your cooktop’s performance, and will become less visible over time
  • What cookware is compatible with induction cooktops?
Not all pieces of cookware can be used on induction cooktops and stoves. Since induction technology uses the power of magnetism, the cookware piece itself must be magnetic and have a flat bottom. For this reason, cookware made from aluminium, copper or glass, including Pyrex will not work on its own. To test if your cookware is magnetic simply place a magnet on the bottom of the pan. AEG have a select range of pots and pans which are compatible with induction cooktops. To view the accessories range click here.
  • I see discoloured areas on my electric or induction cooktop that have a metallic sheen. How can I prevent or remove these?
Discoloration that has a metallic sheen can be caused by mineral deposits from water and food. You can help prevent it by using cookware with a clean and dry bottom surface, and you can remove it with a ceramic/glass cooktop cleaning cream.
  • What does it mean if my induction cooktop has automatically switched off?

AEG cooktops have built-in automatic safety switch off. The appliance deactivates automatically if:

    • You spill liquids or place something across the control panel for more than 10 seconds.
    • The appliance becomes too hot (e.g. when a saucepan boils dry, or oil reaches above 300C).
    • You use incorrect cookware that is not induction friendly.
  • What is OptiZone?
The OptiZone induction cooktops are developed with cooking zones which detect pan presence and location and are not restricted to traditional circular zones. This allows for multiple pots of various sizes to be placed within a cooking zone, provided they come into contact with the induction crosshairs.
  • What do the icons on my cooktop mean?
If you are unsure about the meaning behind the icons on your appliance you can always refer to the user manual that accompanied your appliance. If you do not have access to your manual you can download a digital version here.
  • What is pyrolytic cleaning?
Pyrolytic cleaning removes the need for you to use harsh chemicals to clean your oven. Pyrolytic cleaning is an automatic function which cleans your oven with minimal effort. It works by heating the inside of the oven up to very high temperatures and any grease or food residue is simply burned off. Once the programme has finished and the oven has cooled down, it's very easy to wipe away the residue.
  • How do I set my oven to the pyrolytic function?
Please refer to the instructions in the Care and Cleaning section of your user manual on how to operate the pyrolytic function on your Oven.
  • Do I need to remove anything from the oven before I begin the Pyrolytic function?
Yes, you will need to remove everything including accessories and shelf supports from the oven before beginning the pyrolysis. Please refer to the instructions in the Care and Clean section of your user manual on how to operate the pyrolytic function on your Oven.
  • Why isn't the glass door of my oven clean after the pyrolytic function?
During a pyrolysis only the interior cabinet is cleaned. We suggest you clean the inner side of the glass oven door before you begin the pyrolysis. Also, the door of your AEG oven can be removed entirely for easy cleaning. You can view a tutorial on how to remove your oven door for cleaning on the AEG Youtube channel here.
  • Is it normal for my ovens fan to run after the oven has turned off?
Yes, this is normal. The fan stays on for a period of time in order to help cool the oven.
  • What do the icons on my oven mean?
If you are unsure about the meaning behind the icons on your appliance you can always refer to the user manual that accompanied your appliance. If you do not have access to your manual you can download a digital version here.

  • How do I use the Thermometre Food Probe?
The food probe can be used on a variety of dishes and to achieve optimal results, simply insert the probe into the center of the food, set the two temperatures for the oven and food then wait to be alerted by the acoustic signal once the temperatures have been reached.
  • Why do I see detergent left in the dishwasher dispenser after a cycle?

If you see detergent remaining in the dispenser after a cycle is finished, try the following:

    • Be sure to use fresh detergent, as older detergent might not dissolve well.
    • Check to ensure that the spray arm is not blocked, so that water from it can reach the dispenser.
    • Check to see if the cycle has completed.
    • When loading the dishwasher, make sure the detergent dispenser can open freely.
    • Before you close the door, check that the upper rack is firmly attached to/with the nozzle on the back of the dishwasher.
  • What should I do if my dishwasher isn't running?

If your dishwasher won't run, check to determine if it might be due to one of the following reasons:

    • A circuit breaker is tripped in your home, or a fuse is blown.
    • The water supply to your home is not on.
    • The dishwasher's cycle setting needs to be checked and adjusted.
    • The dishwasher's DELAY START option was selected.
    • The door of the dishwasher is not completely closed and latched.
  • How do I clean the filters in my rangehood?
Filters can be cleaned in the dishwasher or by hand - rinse them well and dry before placing them back into the hood. Note that the filters can turn white if you wash them in the dishwasher. If you have a charcoal filter fitted – this cannot be cleaned but should be replaced. Replacement charcoal filters can be purchased at the AEG Shop.
  • How can I keep my refrigerator or freezer smelling fresh?

Freshness in your refrigerator or freezer can be affected by how food is stored. Some foods have a strong odour, so be sure to cover them tightly.

After you’ve checked how your food is stored, try cleaning the interior of your freezer with a sponge, warm water, and baking soda.

  • Why does the outside of my freezer feel warm?
It is normal for the outside freezer walls to be warmer than room temperature. This happens when the compressor is working to transfer heat from inside the freezer.
  • What does it mean if my refrigerators digital temperature display is flashing?
If the temperature display is flashing, it means that the refrigerator’s electronic control system has detected a performance issue. Contact AEG First Klasse Care on 1300 363 664 or contact us and we will be glad to assist you with information about what the display means and what steps to take.
  • What is the energy rating of the AEG refrigerator?

  • Can I add clothes to the front load washing machine after the cycle has started?
You can stop/pause your machine after the cycle has started if it is safe to do so. The machine door will not unlock once the water level has reached the level of the door, if the spin cycle has started or if the water temperature is over 60 degrees.
  • Where can I find the filter in my washing machine?
Filters in the washing machine are called the drain pump. To find where your drain pump is located on your washing machine, please refer to the Care and Cleaning section of your user manual.
  • Is there a child safety feature on AEG front load washing machines?
Safety is at the heart of everything we do here at AEG. For your peace of mind we equipped these machines with 2 family friendly safety features. Firstly there is the Child Lock function which prevents children operating the control panel. Once activated this lock will remain in place until it is deactivated, even if the machine is switched off. Secondly, the AEG washing machines are equipped with a child safety device. When you activate this device, you cannot close the door preventing children or pets being closed inside. Please refer to your user manual for instructions on how to activate these child locks.
